People strip their cars down for parts all the time (for various reasons) and many people sell those car parts online to the highest bidder. The best way to find auctions for the parts you are looking for is to search for the car part itself. If you do a car part auction search, the number of results you will get will be incredibly overwhelming. So first locate the part you want and then check out the auction sites listed for it. It will save you mountains of time.
If the insurance company decides not to total your older model car then you need to look for repair shops to have your car fixed. Your insurance company will typically make an assessment as to which car parts you will need to repair your car, and in some cases, they will even recommend or demand you use a particular repair shop.
The higher prestige a manufacturing company has, the more they will charge for their parts. But what do you get for the massive increase in price? Most of the time the quality will be higher, but at what price? Is the increase in quality always worth it? Most of the time, it’s not. Most people will not hold their used car long enough for an auto part warranty to expire.

Well, the good news is you can always ask for one – you will be amazed. In many cases the store will grant you a discount based on the purchase price. But, don’t rush to buy that part yet. Do some price comparisons by checking the Internet.
If what you are hunting has small parts like screws and washers, take a Ziploc baggy with you too. This will make sure you don’t lose them somewhere in the junkyard!
Simple repairs – Always check your car for repairs that you can do your self like changing the air filter. You can also repair the wiper blades by yourself. Check if all your lights are working properly and if there is a bulb that needs replacing, do it.
