Learning to play poker well on a consistent basis isn’t easy, nor can you do it by reading a book or adopting a particular style of play. You’ll need experience and primarily, you may need to be able to THINK. Poker will be close to correctly analyzing situations that you encounter at the table. The higher you analyze, the more successful you will be. In contrast, if you think you can institute a one-size-fits-all sort of thinking to make it easier, you are sadly mistaken.

Dealing with bad luck is the second most important thing to remember when learning poker. You will have to handle it, it shall be a factor virtually every time you play. The way you deal with it will likely assess whether or not you’ve got the mentality to make it as a professional poker player.
