Children must pronounce the letter correctly before removing the block. ‘Phonics Bingo’ calls for children to identify the sound at the beginning of a word and match it to their bingo card.
The implementation of these activities was systematic and required regular practice. Teachers assigned students with different reading levels to work together during paired reading, allowing them to learn from and assist one another. During reader’s theater, students would interpret and dramatize the script, encouraging them to understand and articulate the story better. Echo reading helped them grasp the teacher’s pronunciation, pace, and tone. Lastly, repeated reading solidified their understanding and command over vocabularies and sentence structures.
